The mounted nightdress is a costume from the set of Gone with the Wind (1939). Vivien Leigh wore the dress in two different scenes in the second half of the film. The dress was discovered in a chest of drawers at Topsham Museum in the 1990s. It is not clear how the dress came to Topsham, but Vivien Leigh's daughter and first husband donated several items to the museum over time. The museum's founder, Dorothy Holman, was Vivien Leigh's former sister-in-law from her first marriage to Leigh Holman.
