A tie-in edition of Tennessee Williams' 1950 novel The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone released to promote the 1961 film adaptation of the same name starring Vivien Leigh. The film was directed by José Quintero for Seven Arts-Warner Bros. The adaptation also starred Warren Beatty.
This was the second Tennessee Williams' film adaptation in which Vivien Leigh had starred. She previously played the role of Blanche DuBois in the 1951 adaptation of A Streetcar Named Desire.
This tie-in edition supporting the release of the film promises the reader 'eight pages of scenes from the Warner Bros. release'. The back cover features another image of Vivien Leigh and Warren Beatty, describing the production as 'daring'. It also offers a brief plot synposis, describing the novel/film as the story 'of the defeat, or perhaps the destruction, or an American woman in a few short months in tourist-ridden Rome'.
