Conserving Costumes: The Green Velvet Gown

This video was created by the Harry Ransom Center to document their conservation work on dresses from Gone with the Wind (1939) now held in their archives.

The video includes information about the work of costume designer Walter Plunkett and his attitude towards the designs for the film, fusing period and contemporary styles and fashions.

The video provides context for interpreting the design of the Gone with the Wind nightdress held at Topsham Museum and some of the challenges that museums and archives face in keeping these materials in good condition for future audiences.
