LP record: The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck

A vinyl record of the Beatrix Potter children's story The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck produced in 1960 and narrated by Vivien Leigh, with music and lyrics by Cyril Ornadel and David Croft.

The record was produced as part of a larger series of Beatrix Potter audio adaptations in the Junior Record Club Series, produced by Fiona Bentley for Odean and EMI.

Vivien Leigh acted as narrator for all the Beatrix Potter stories in the audio series, supported by other actors supplying character voices. This is not the only example of Vivien Leigh's work as a voice actor or vocal performer. Across her career, she worked on various kinds of radio performance, contributing to BBC programmes such as Bats in the Belfry and Once upon a Time and reading poetry for the BBC in the 1940s. Vivien Leigh displayed a long-standing willingness to labour at improving and developing her vocal skills, collaborating with singing and vocal coaches such as George Canelli, for example, for her Shakespearean roles.
